Five Things You Need to Know Today: April 15
State Attorney General scheduled to speak at Tax Day rally, Uwajimaya holds ceremonies, streets closed for Bellevue Breakfast Rotary 10k/5k Run and volunteer fairs galore.
1) Today Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna is scheduled to speak at one of two Bellevue rallies scheduled for Tax Day, April 15 (the traditional tax day, and not the actual IRS deadline this year) as part of protests organized by the Tea Party and other politically conservative groups nationwide. McKenna, radio host Mike Siegel, Bellevue Deputy Mayor Conrad Lee and others are scheduled to speak at the rally from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the lawn of Bellevue City Hall. Another rally, with the theme "Who Decides? and FAIR TAX," will be held from 5-7 p.m. on the corner of Factoria Blvd and SE 36th St. This rally is organized by the Issaquah/Sammamish Tea Party and the Renton/Kent Tea Party Patriots.
2) This weekend, Uwajimaya will celebrate its new location at 660 120th Ave NE, Bellevue, with a grand opening ceremony, scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Saturday. The ceremony will include a purification ceremony, ribbon cutting and drummers. On Sunday at noon, the store will celebrate with a Lion Dance.
