Biz News: Edmonds Prestige Care Assisted Living Facility Closes

The Vancouver, Wash.-based company that runs the facility says the Edmonds Prestige Care structure was old and must be remodeled or completely rebuilt, but will reopen.

The Prestige Care and Rehabilitation assisted living facility at 21008 76th Avenue West in Edmonds has closed because the aged structure that houses it is in need of renovation, with the 40 to 45 residents who had been living there finding other arrangements.

Melanie Matthews, a spokeswoman Prestige Care, said the facility will be remodeled or completely rebuilt. But that could be a long process and it is not yet known when it will reopen. Prestige Care is based in Vancouver, Wash., and operates more than 30 assisted living facilities in the Western United States.

“We had difficult news to share with staff and residents, but the last of the residents were discharged last week,” she said Tuesday. “It was an older building and it was just not meeting our Prestige Care standards. We plan to rebuild or renovate on the existing property.”

The residents were assisted in finding other arrangement, with open houses held with other area facilities. The staff of less than 50 employees were helped with job fairs and in contacting other facilities to find job, with some transferring to other Prestige Care facilities.

“We are very much looking forward to again serving the community,” Matthews said.
