EVERETT, WA - Washingtonians who would rather not face the challenges associated with flying out of Sea-Tac will soon have another option for flights to West Coast-based destinations. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Wednesday gave Paine Field in Everett the green light to begin commercial flights services.

According to the Finding of No Significant Impact and Record of Decision submitted by the FAA on Feb. 20, Alaska and United airlines will offer up to 24 daily round-trip flights to cities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Oregon.

Alaska Airlines will reportedly begin services on March 4, while United Airlines will delay its start until March 31.

The Snohomish County-owned airport only has a few FAA requirements left to meet before they've dotted all the I's and crossed all the T's needed to get started.

As part of amending the airport's operating certificate, the FAA demands Paine Field officials install 424 additional parking spaces and a Segmented Circle, which helps pilots navigate ground traffic on the airfield runway when the airfield doesn't have a flight control tower.
