Free Childbirth Center Tour 
As a parent-to-be, one of the most important decisions you will make is where to have your baby. We invite you to take a closer look at our birthing center atSwedish/Edmonds and our comprehensive range of support services. Come see why more babies are born at Swedish than any other hospital in the state! Our pre-birth tour is recommended for parents in their third trimester 4 - 6 weeks before birth. Our specially designed tour begins with an introduction to Swedish Medical Center and ends with a walking tour of the birth suites. There will be plenty of time for questions. Pre-registration is required. This registration registers two people on the tour, so please register additional people separately. Have a Happy Birth Day Intro Tour of Swedish/Edmonds Childbirth Services 
Are you thinking of becoming pregnant or did you just hear the good news? Are you looking for the right doctor or midwife? Contemplating your choices? Let Swedish show you why more babies are born here than any place else in the state. At our Have a Happy Birthday Introductory Tour you will learn about your birthing options at our First Hill, Ballard and Edmonds Childbirth Centers so that you can choose the experience that works best for your personal style. No matter which option you choose, you'll enjoy Jacuzzi tubs, stereo systems with iPod jacks, and a la carte food service. During the tour you will learn about our world class physicians, midwives, nurses, perinatologists, neonataologists and pediatric specialists available to take care of your every need. You will enjoy a walking tour of our childbirth center and hear real patient experiences. You will feel confident that even after you go home with your new baby Swedish is standing by with breastfeeding help, parent information phone-line, childbirth and parenting classes, new mom and dad support groups, pediatric specialty care and a pediatric emergency room. This tour is designed for people who are considering pregnancy or who are newly pregnant. Tour lasts 1.5 hours. Infant Safety and CPR at Edmonds 
Pediatricians agree that prevention of unintentional injuries is the key to keeping your baby safe. Before your baby arrives get prepared to keep him or her safe by learning how to prevent the most common unintentional injuries of infants and toddlers. You will learn about common safety hazards in and around the house, what’s recommended for infant sleep safety and basic tips for preparing your pets, along with many other important topics. You will also learn the proper procedures for assisting an infant, up to one year of age, who is choking or is unresponsive. This class is recommended for parents, grandparents and anyone caring for a newborn or infant up to 1 year of age. CPR and Foreign Body Airway Obstruction procedures are American Heart Association curriculum. Cost of this class covers two people taking the class together. Safe Sitter
®
Safe Sitter is a medically accurate program that teaches boys and girls how to be good babysitters. The class covers basic lifesaving techniques, safety precautions and responsibilities of safe babysitting and is recommended for ages 11-13. The Safe Sitter program is recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Visit www.safesitter.org for more information. AARP Driver Safety 
This eight-hour class is an innovative classroom-based driver-retraining program designed to help older persons improve their driving skills. A certificate of completion is given that may qualify drivers over age 55 for insurance discounts. Participants must attend both sessions to receive certification. Prediabetes – 
Evenings This class will explain risk factors and how to lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 60 percent through dietary and lifestyle changes. Participants will receive a blood glucose meter and instruction on use. Participants are welcome to bring a support person to the class for no additional charge. Look Good, Feel Better 
This American Cancer Society class focuses on skin care, cosmetics, hair care and hair loss and is designed for women undergoing cancer treatment. Relief for Your Shoulder Pain 
This class will present an overview of shoulder anatomy, common injuries to the shoulder (including sports injuries), how to prevent injury and surgical/nonsurgical solutions to common injuries. Pain and Beyond 
This class teaches coping techniques for people with pain-limiting conditions. Topics include an overview of the anatomy and physiology of pain, stress management, pacing, goal setting and logging, home therapies, nutrition and supplements, and hope, happiness and healing. Guided imagery, relaxation and gentle exercise are also covered. Ongoing Grief Support Group 
This year-round group does not require pre-registration. You may attend once, or as often as you find it helpful.  Support Group This eight-week group is for those who have experienced a loss that is sudden and traumatic (e.g. car accident, drowning). This drop-in support group is for parents who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss. Group meets the third Wednesday of the month. Diabetes Class Series 
This is a series of four classes taught by a diabetes nurse and dietitian with the goal of helping you become independent in the daily management of diabetes. Topics include self-glucose monitoring, nutrition and meal planning, exercise, medication management and strategies for living a healthy lifestyle. A physician referral is required. Many insurances, including Medicare, will pay for the cost of the classes. Exercise for a Healthy Heart 
This is a medically supervised exercise and education program for individuals living with, or at risk of developing, heart disease. Individuals with heart disease, diabetes/prediabetes and high blood pressure or cholesterol will benefit from the program, which focuses on controlling risk factors and making positive lifestyle changes.
