Snohomish County Executive Lovick to Speak at March on Washington Celebration

Snohomish County Executive John Lovick will join local elected officials for a special celebration Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Everett Community College.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. In honor of this event, Snohomish County Executive John Lovick will join local elected officials for a special celebration Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Everett Community College.

“I’m truly humbled to join in this event honoring the work of Dr. King and the progress we have made toward equal civil rights for everyone,” said Snohomish County Executive John Lovick in a news release. “As Dr. King once said, ‘The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.’ I believe we’ve made great strides since this historic event, but we need to continue our commitment to equality for everyone, in Snohomish County and throughout our country.”

The anniversary celebration is free to the public and begins at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Jackson Center on the Everett Community College campus.
