Sports extravaganza Sunday
The Seahawks haven’t started their regular season but this Sunday will still be a sports extravaganza in the Puget Sound region and drivers should prepare for some significant traffic. The story: The Mariners play the Angels at 1:10 p.m. Right around when they’re ending (around 4-4:30 p.m.), about 70,000 fans will begin converging on CenturyLink to watch Clint Dempsey make his home debut for the Sounders against the Portland Timbers. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. That’s the recipe for some gridlock. Meanwhile, at Snoqualmie Ridge, Sunday is the last day of the Boeing Classic golf tournament and if Seattle’s Fred Couples or Rick Fehr are in contention, there could be 30,000 people headed to and fro.
