EVERETT, WA - A pedestrian was killed in Everett Tuesday night when she was a struck by a United States Postal Service vehicle as she walked through an intersection less than 400 feet from the post office. The woman reportedly survived the initial impact but later died from her injuries.
Everett police on Wednesday said the collision occurred around 5:45 p.m. Jan. 22 at the intersection of Colby and Pacific avenues. According to witnesses, the unidentified pedestrian — who is believed to be in her 50s — was crossing Pacific Avenue in the crosswalk as the light changed.
Heading into the intersection with a green light, the westbound USPS mail carrier did not see the woman until it was too late. After the collision, the mail carrier remained at the scene and cooperated with the ensuing investigation, which reportedly required officers to close the intersection for roughly two hours.
