PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Looking to get a COVID-19 test this weekend? Well, you won't be able to find one in Spanaway for much longer.

According to an update from the county Friday, the Spanaway Park mass testing site will close permanently at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22. The Spanaway Park location lasted just a few weeks: It was set up in mid-January to replace the longstanding Lakewood mass testing site, which had to be closed after a spike in testing caused overcrowding and safety concerns.

To replace the Spanaway site, the county has announced a new, temporary COVID-19 mass testing site in DuPont. It will open Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the State Farm Parking Lot at 1000 Wilmington Drive.
