He will be the keynote speaker at a grand opening Thursday for the Zero Energy House, a small home built by students at CPTC in the Sustainable Building Sciences program.

Gov. Jay Inslee will be the keynote speaker at a grand opening event for the Zero Energy House at Clover Park Technical College on May 9 at noon.

The event will take place at the Lakewood Campus of CPTC in front of the newly completed home. The ZEH is a small home built by students at CPTC in the Sustainable Building Sciences program. Dan Smith, Sustainable Building Science instructor, conceptualized the project. Instructional programs across the College contributed to the design and building of the home for more than three years.

Following Inslee’s address, tours will be given of the home highlighting the features that keep the house at zero energy consumption.
