JBLM Announces COVID-Safe Trick Or Treating Event
Spooky season is returning to Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Here's how your family can get involved.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Joint Base Lewis-McChord has announced the return of their annual Halloween spooktacular with a COVID-safe trick-or-treating event set for later this month.
The base says the event will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31. To keep participants safe, organizers are asking that revelers:
- Accompany young children and be careful crossing the road.
- Keep away from barracks and dorms, which are not set up for trick-or-treating.
- Only visit homes that are inviting trick-or-treaters.
- Have children carry flashlights or glow sticks or other bright objects that help them be easily seen.
- Only trick-or-treat outdoors.
- Limit yourself to small groups of people from within the same household.
- Practice social distancing.
- Wear cloth masks when receiving or giving candy, or a costume that has a covering built in.
- Avoid communal treat bowls and home baked goods.
Anyone who is sick is asked to stay home and not participate in any way. Meanwhile, homeowners are asked to secure pets and remove tripping hazards while children are out roaming for treats.
