JBLM To Resume Mortar Training Early Next Month

Anyone who lives near Joint Base Lewis-McChord can expect some more noise next week.

LAKEWOOD, WA — Joint Base Lewis-McChord's current round of demolitions, artillery, and mortar training is set to wrap up at midnight on Saturday, but it won't be long before the noises resume. The City of Lakewood confirmed Friday that JBLM would conduct additional mortar training next week, from March 1 -5.

JBLM Army units fire live munitions into a designated "artillery impact area" on JBLM's main campus.

As longtime residents are no doubt aware, those artillery shells can cause quite a bit of noise for the surrounding area.
