LAKEWOOD, WA — Halloween isn't quite here yet, but the holiday season is coming up quick! That's why the City of Lakewood is hoping to find more businesses and groups who want to participate in the upcoming Parade of Lights celebration.

If you missed it, the Parade of Lights is a drive-through event, where visitors can roll past a maze of holiday displays, float parades and more. It started last year as a COVID-safe substitute for other holiday celebrations, but proved so popular the city says it's coming back this winter.

"The pandemic necessitated some new holiday activities last year, and our 'reverse light parade' was very popular," said Jim Kopriva, Communications Manager for the City of Lakewood. "It might be a new family tradition. It's a lot like driving around the neighborhood to enjoy the lights and the season – plus it's nice and warm in the car."

However, to make the event a reality, the city says it still needs a few more applications from local businesses or groups who want to be a part of the show. A call for parade applications has been put out on the City of Lakewood's website. If you're interested, the city says the event is a great way to show off and engage with community members.

The Parade of Lights runs Saturday, December 11th, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Fort Steilacoom Park.
