• Community mourns tragic deaths of mother and son (mi-reporter.com) — Mercer Island residents are grieving the deaths of longtime community members Danielle and Nick Cuvillier, honored this week with a large candlelight vigil at Pioneer Park and the Congregational Church. Friends, neighbors, and former teachers shared memories of their warmth, advocacy, and deep ties to Island life, ahead of a Jan. 11 memorial at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center. 
• Suspect wanted in Bellevue ID theft, Issaquah vehicle prowl (fox13seattle.com) — King County deputies are asking for help identifying a man accused of stealing credit cards from a car at Issaquah’s Poo Poo Point Trailhead and racking up more than $7,000 at Bellevue Square’s Nordstrom and Apple Store. Mercer Island residents who hike regionally or shop on the Eastside are urged to review the suspect description and contact investigators or Crime Stoppers with tips.
