• Seattle light rail across Lake Washington nearing simulated service phase (fox13seattle.com) — Mercer Island riders are close to getting direct Link light rail service, with pre-revenue testing now underway on the 2 Line across I-90 and simulated service for riders starting next month. After a spring grand opening, trains will run every four minutes at peak and passengers will be able to board at new stations on Mercer Island and in Judkins Park.

A longtime friend defends 80-year-old Danielle Cuvillier’s care for her disabled son, while court records and prior police reports describe years of conflict, abuse allegations, and a custody battle leading up to the December 30 shootings.
   

• UCLA Adds Ivy League Lineman to Transfer Portal Class (idahostatesman.com) — A former Harvard offensive lineman who grew up on Mercer Island has committed to transfer to UCLA, where he’s expected to compete for a starting role next season. His journey from local roots to Ivy League starter and now Big Ten hopeful offers a fun connection for Island football fans to follow.
