Puyallup Spring Fair Guide 2013

The Spring Fair in Puyallup kicks off on Thursday, April 18 and continues through Sunday, April 21, 2013.

Kids (0-18) get in free on opening day, thanks to BECU. There’s also a food drive for the Puyallup Food Bank all day on Thursday. 

Military Appreciation Day is Friday, April 19. Free gate is offered to all active, reserve and retired military and their dependents and Nat’l Guard, plus disabled vets with valid military ID on Friday.

Adults: $10
Students (6-18): $7 - FREE student admission Thursday, April 18 presented by BECU
Five & under: Always FREE
Discounted tickets are available at Fred Meyer and Safeway, or you can buy them online.

ROAD CLOSURES

Puyallup PD tweeted that 9th AVE SW is closed between S Meridian & 2 ST SW during the Fair.

WEATHER

There is chance of rain this weekend in Puyallup, according to the National Weather Service. Highs are expected to be in the mid-50s, with lows in the upper 30s. 

WHAT'S NEW

Aussie Kingdom: There will be several shows a day where guests can meet Australian marcupials (animals with pouches). You can meet kangaroos, wallabies, walleroos, and other Australian wildlife, including lizards, bearded and frill dragons, and birds (kookaburra, rainbow lorikeet).

Dragsters, funny cars and more: This year, Auto Alley is showcasing the racing world with dragsters, funny cars and more, thanks to Pacific Raceways.

Quinceanera / Bridal Show: Fiesta Mexicana will have a new feature this year, a fashion show on Saturday and Sunday featuring Quinceanera and bridal wear.

KidZone Too! We now have another KidZone area, complete with a root beer garden, face painting, and AG-Ventureland (kids areas with agriculture and educational activities like goat milking, craft station, corn and bean play boxes, and more). Also stop by the Creative Kids Exhibit for student art.

KMPS Showcase Concert featuring American Young: The annual KMPS Showcase featuring American Young will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 7:30 pm at the Spring Fair in Puyallup. They will perform at the Showplace Stage, and the concert is free to Fair guests upon gate admission.

SPRING FAIR FAVORITES

: The Monster Truck Show on Friday night is produced by WGAS Motorsports. Featured trucks and drivers include (trucks subject to change):

• Iron Outlaw
• Wrongway Rick
• Detour
• Captain USA (Jeff Bainter) – local truck from Cle Elem
• Time Fly’s
• Fired Up
• Obsession
• Destroyer
• Playing 4 Keeps 

There will be a free Pit Party on Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., where Monster Truck Show ticket holders can see the trucks up close and meet the drivers.

Kids of all ages can enjoy taking a ride on a tricked-out monster truck on Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, April 20 from noon to 4 p.m. for $7 per ride.

Slamfest Demolition Derby: The Slamfest Demolition Derby is produced by Evergreen Speedway/High Road Promotions. The Saturday evening derby features trucks and SUVs, followed by a huge fireworks show. Sunday’s Demo Derby is dedicated to big cars. Both derbies include Figure 8s, the Derby Heat Races, and Slamfest (the last car standing wins).

Don’t miss Auto Alley, a popular showcase each year at the Spring Fair. A racecar theme will draw all ages of guests, including cars from the LeMay Family Collection Foundation.

Fireworks: Enjoy a Fireworks Spectacular on Friday and Saturday nights around 9 p.m.

Fiesta Mexicana with dancing horses, authentic food, music and dance.

Swifty Swine Racing Pigs: Cheer on piglets as they race around the track to win an Oreo cookie.

Over 400 vendor spaces: There are lots of great vendors selling their wares, including Garden Show items. (Cisco Morris and Marianne Binetti to appear at this year's Garden Show).

Dock Dogs and Northwest Junior Livestock Show: Dog aquatics and the best livestock in town will be on display!
