Apply Now For $1,000 Education Scholarship

All civically engaged students in Puyallup who will graduate this spring are eligible for the Center for Quality Communities​ award.

PUYALLUP, WA - Do you know a civically engaged high school student graduating in Puyallup this spring? If so, the city is now accepting applications for nominees to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Center for Quality Communities.

The AWC's Center for Quality Communities Scholarship program is meant to assist graduating seniors who plan to continue their education after high school. Nominees are expected to be students who actively participate in their local government and volunteer around their community.

Since 2011, the Center for Quality Communities has awarded scholarships to students around the state who best show a sincere civic commitment to their respective communities.

To be considered for the scholarship, the nominee must:

  • Reside or attend school in the Puyallup School District;
  • Graduate from high school, complete home school or receive a GED in spring/summer 2019;
  • Continue education at an accredited post-secondary institution in the 2019-2020 academic year on a half-time or more basis; and
  • Have been involved with a city government or with a community/school leadership activity.

The application/nomination deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 22.
