Car Break-Ins At YMCA And More Runaway Hijinks: PPD Blotter
Car break-ins made up the majority of incidents shared in this latest version of the Puyallup Police Department crime log.

PUYALLUP, WA β A rash of car break-ins throughout the city, and specifically within the YMCA parking lot, make up a majority of the incident entries in this latest iteration of the ever-popular Puyallup Police Department blotter, covering select crimes logged between April 23 and 26.

400-block of Fifth Street Northeast
A backpack stolen sometime overnight from a work truck parked outside the victim's residence reportedly contained a laptop, cell phone, and other miscellaneous items. Tools located in the truck's backseat were left alone.

Commercial Burglary
2900-block of South Meridian
The site manager of a building under construction reported the theft of 200 feet of extension cords, valued at more than $1,000.

Theft from Vehicle
700-block of East Main Avenue
A duffle bag, checks, and a drill were stolen from the open passenger-side window of a work truck.
Attempted Robbery
3500 S. Meridian - Macyβs
A 32-year-old male was seen by loss prevention attempting to leave the store without paying for over $700 in merchandise. When he was confronted; he pepper sprayed loss prevention. The suspect was eventually detained and handcuffed. He was booked into county.
Possession of a Stolen Vehicle/PSP 1st
2800 Ninth St. SW
An officer made a traffic stop on a male driver, who had been wanted for some time by the Puget Sound Auto Theft Task Force. The officer confirmed that the Task Force still had probable cause for his arrest on multiple felonies. He was arrested and booked. Outstanding work by the officer!
DV Assault
3000-block of Dunhill Lane
An 18-year-old pushed his father multiple times while arguing over gas money. The son was arrested and booked.

A $500 BAPE-brand backpack was stolen when someone smashed out the passenger-side window of the victim's vehicle somtime between 7 and 9 p.m.

Runaway Recovery/CPS
2612 S. Meridian - Southridge Apartments
A chronic runaway was located at a friendβs apartment. Due to safety concerns CPS took custody of him.
Failure to Yield/Unlawful Possession Drug Para/DWLS
1000 S. Meridian
An officer attempted a traffic stop on a male driver, who failed to yield and continued onto W/B 512. He drove at 30 MPH up the hill and exited onto 31st Ave SW, continuing to travel at a slow rate of speed.
After failing to yield for 1.5 miles, the officer performed a PIT maneuver, which finally brought the driver to a stop. He was arrested without incident, and a large amount of drug paraphernalia was located in his vehicle.
A drug recognition expert determined that he was not impaired. He was booked.
ID Theft
303 35th Ave. E - The Home Depot
Someone used the victimβs information, likely gained from a vehicle prowl in Tacoma, to open an account and purchase $1,033 worth of merchandise.
MVTR / Recovery
700-block of 21st Street Northwest
A white 2014 Ford E250 van was stolen from a driveway in this area sometime between 3:45 and 4:45 a.m. The van was found sometime later in the 200-block of 12th Avenue Northwest. It was slightly damaged.
Runaway
2400-block of Chateau Drive
14-year-old female ran away from home. An officer located her later in the shift with two other juvenile females. They were healthy and happy, but ran away from officers again. She remains in the system as a runaway.
ID Theft
900-block of Ninth Street Southeast
The victim had hundreds of dollars racked up on an account she did not open. Someone obtained her info by unknown means.

1409 S. Meridian - Northwest Motor Inn
Officers responded to a 911 hang-up from a room at the Northwest motor inn and contacted a female occupant. It was determined that no crime had occurred, however a routine records check revealed she had an unconfirmed felony/no bail Pierce County Sheriff warrant for Felony harassment. She was booked.

800-block of 30th Avenue Southwest
A male was called in by a passerby as a possible DUI after his vehicle was swerving. Officers contacted the male driver who was acting strange, pointing inside the business. It was discovered his wife was working inside the business.
A routine record check revealed he had a confirmed Puyallup warrant for theft 3rd degree. He was found not to be impaired, therefore he was booked for his warrant.

Citizen reported and unknown person(s) smashed their passenger side window and took their school book bag, which contained their school work and text books.
Fraud
1500-block of Seventh Avenue Southwest
Someone accessed the victimβs eBay account and withdrew money from her visa card. It is unknown how the account was accessed.
Theft
1100 N. Meridian -Fred Meyer
Victim had his blue Schwinn stolen from the front of the store yesterday.

3207 E. Main Ave. - Mama Stortiniβs
A male was contacted within a suspicious vehicle, which was in the business parking lot. A routine records check revealed he had a confirmed misdemeanor warrant out of PCSO for Reckless Driving, $25,000 bail. He was booked
Motor Vehicle Recovery
1100 N. Meridian - Johnnyβs Restaurant
An officer conducting security checks around Fred Meyer stopped when his License Plate Reader hit on a car parked near Johnny's that was apparently stolen. In the car were two sleeping occupants, one of whom turned out to be the victim's daughter.
When police informed the victim their daughter was in the stolen car, the victim asked for the car to be removed from the system. Both the daughter and other sleeping occupant were released.
DUI Collision β Alcohol
407 Valley Ave. NE
A man was reportedly riding his motorcycle around an apartment complex parking lot at unsafe speeds and while intoxicated. Eventually the man collided with the rear end of a vehicle that was attempting to park.
The motorcycle rider sustained a broken wrist and was cited for DUI.
Obstructing / Attempted theft / Possession
3310 S. Meridian - Target
A man tried to flee after a failed shoplifting attempt but was ultimately tracked down by officers. A search of the man subsequent to his arrest produced a BB gun, drug paraphernalia, and multiple baggies of what police initially believed was heroin.
Further investigation revealed the heroin in the baggies was fake, which police say the man was trying to sell. The man reportedly told police he found the baggies. He was arrested.

A male was contacted with a group after he was observed near a suspicious vehicle within the carwash. He even asked for a jumpstart during the contact while he voluntarily provided his name to officers. It was found that he had a felony warrant out of Pierce County for UPCS & THEFT 3RD. He was booked.

A male was contacted after he was observed jumping onto a trash can and into a fenced in area of a local business. He was contacted within fenced area of the business, which was closed. He appeared to be collecting cigarettes. A routine records check discovered he had a warrant out of Pierce County for Malicious Mischief 3rd. He was booked.
