Note: This is a press release from the Washington State Fair.
Long before America realized the hard rock talent of Rockford, Illinois-based group, Cheap Trick, Japanese fans adopted this group. The Japanese press started referring to this successful cover band as the βAmerican Beatles,β a moniker theyβve kept since the 1970s.
By the start of the 80s, Cheap Trick was headlining in arenas around the world. Several years later, when the bandβs commercial success declined, a cover of Elvis Presleyβs βDonβt Be Cruelβ reached the Top 10. That album,Β Lap of LuxuryΒ went platinum and became recognized as the bandβs comeback album.
At the Sept. 11 show in PuyallupΒ Cheap Trick will perform two classic albums live with anΒ orchestra: Cheap TrickΒ At Budokan and Sgt. Pepper Live.
The show is scheduled forΒ Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m.Β at the Washington State Fairβs 2013 Concert Series, Presented by Columbia Bank.Β
