16 Measles Cases Now Confirmed In SW Wash. Outbreak
Cases in Battle Ground have now been confirmed by Clark County Public Health. Tacoma-Pierce County Health officials shared Thursday's alert.

TACOMA, WA - The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department on Thursday issued an advisory regarding the ongoing and expanding measles outbreak in Clark County, where 16 cases of measles have been confirmed and five suspected cases are being investigated.
Previously segregated to the Vancouver area only, Thursday's update from Clark County Public Health shows the contagion has now spread to Battle Ground in north Clark County, roughly 130 miles from Tacoma.
Of the individuals who've been confirmed, all are children. Thirteen of the cases involve kids between 1 and 10 years old, while the remaining three involve teens between 11 and 18 years.

Fourteen of the confirmed cases were found in children who were not immunized. The immunization status of the other two cases has not yet been verified.
Public exposure to measles has been confirmed for several locations throughout Clark County and Portland, Oregon, including the Portland International Airport, churches, retail businesses, elementary schools, restaurants, and hospitals.

"Public Health is requiring exclusion of students and staff without documented immunity to measles from schools, child care and other congregate settings," the agency said.
