Fraud- Phone Scam

344 Seventh St. SE - Esquire Apartments

A 57-year-old woman was apparently roped into a scam involving someone who identified himself as Edward K. Marshall. Police say Marshall told the victim her car was being used to make illegal drug runs at the Mexican border, adding that the car in question also had traces of blood on it. Ultimately, Marshall convinced the woman to send him $2,270 to avoid the issuance of an arrest warrant in her name.

An officer was taking a report from the victim when Marshall reportedly called again. When the officer answered the call, Marshall hung up.

Obstructing/Warrant

3717 S. Meridian - Petco

Two men got police attention when they caused a disturbance outside Petco. Speaking with an officer, one of the men reportedly lied about his identity to conceal multiple warrants for his arrest from at least two agencies. The officer eventually learned the man's true name and took him into custody.

DWLS/Ignition Interlock/Trip Permit Violation

1900 S. Meridian

A driver with a suspended license who was also violating an order to maintain an ignition interlock device was pulled over for displaying an altered trip permit and arrest.

Theft/Warrant

611 S. Meridian - Safeway

A woman with multiple warrants reportedly stole a cartful of merchandise from Safeway. The investigating officer successfully identified the woman and advised her to return to the store, which she did; she was promptly arrested.

Counterfeiting

600-block of River Road

An obese white man in his 40s sporting a full beard reportedly passed counterfeit $10 and $20 bills at a business over the past two days.

MVT

401 15th St. SE - Good Sam Parking Garage

A white 2017 Nissan Sentra, four-door, was stolen from either the second or third level of the parking garage between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.

DUI-Alcohol

1300 N. Meridian

Officers pulled over a man who was traveling 42 mph in a 30 mph zone. The man ultimately failed field sobriety tests and provided BAC samples of just more than the legal limit. He was arrested.

FIR, Warrant

500-block of 39th Avenue Southwest

Police determined a 48-year-old man who was causing "a scene" in a nearby restaurant was likely experiencing mental health issues. He was, however, arrested on a warrant.

Recovery

200-block of Valley Avenue Northwest

A 2014 Audi A4 that was reported stolen from Tacoma was actually just repossessed by CarMax β€” not stolen.

Burglary

2900-block of South Meridian

A resident reported the overnight theft of an extension cord.

1400-block of East Main Avenue

A commercial burglary resulted in the theft of sound deadening material. The burglary victim reportedly watched the theft using security video streamed through his phone on a 10-minute delay. The burglar, a white man dressed in black, reportedly fled in an older blue Ford Explorer.

Theft

4000-block of South Meridian

Someone stole two bikes from the victim's camp while he was at hospital with his girlfriend between Feb. 14 and 15. The bikes were described as a black Kona with blue lettering and a black Giant Escape.

Motor Vehicle Recovery

Crystal Ridge Drive Southeast/Shaw Road

A gold Pontiac Grand AM with no plates was reportedly abandoned in the middle of the road in the 3200-block of Crystal Ridge Drive Southeast. A VIN check revealed the car was stolen from Portland, Oregon.
