PUYALLUP, WA - Clearing out active warrants and cleaning up graffiti around Puyallup kept officers and code enforcers busy over the past few days, as the most recent iteration of the ever-popular Puyallup Police Department crime log shows, covering select incidents from April 9 - 12.

Burglary

2900-block of Fifth Avenue Northeast

Two people are suspected of burglarizing a dental practice sometime overnight. According to police, the pair stole gift cards, cash, and a camera. The reporting party was unable to provide investigators a serial number for the camera, police said.

First Information Report (FIR)

400-block or North Meridian

A 29-year-old man who was admittedly "high" repeatedly tried to get into a stranger's vehicle. The vehicle owner did well to remove the high man and contact police. Officers later learned the high man really thought he was getting into his friend's car, police said.

The vehicle owner opted not to press charges.

1000-block of Valley Avenue Northwest

Sometime over the weekend someone removed the rear license plate to the victim’s Freightliner semi. The plate was entered as stolen.

303 35th Ave. SE - The Home Depot

A man who was previously trespassed from The Home Depot was reportedly recognized by the store's Loss Prevention team as he was loading a cart with power tools. The man was stopped before anything happened, but because he also had a warrant police took him into custody.

Two males were stopped after they were both observed riding their bicycles without helmets. Upon contact, both were checked via records and found to both have Puyallup warrants for their arrest. They were both booked.

A woman who was found sleeping in her car in the Target parking lot reportedly had two warrants in her name: one for DUI and another for Criminal Solicitation. Bail for both warrants totaled $50,000, police said. She was arrested.

After foot patrol officers spotted a man in the park after hours, they contacted him and learned he had an arrest warrant from the Department of Corrections for escape. He was booked, police said.

2804 Fifth Ave. NE - Riverside Park II

Officers located a suspicious vehicle parked within the Riverside Park apartments, which has been a concern of residents due to recent prowls. Multiple occupants where contacted and checked via records. Two males were found to have confirmed warrants out of Sumner PD. Both were booked via Sumner PD.

Sometime overnight someone gained access to a victim’s trailer and stole a vacuum.

Public Works had to replace a red stop sign after someone wrote "GREEN" across it using gold paint.

Sometime in 2018 someone stole the victim’s two bicycles and a BBQ.

3500 S. Meridian - JCPenney’s

A victim called to report her white 1998 Nissan Sentra was taken from within the parking lot on the north side of the mall between 4:50-6:20pm. She stated her vehicle was locked. Vehicle was entered as stolen within WASIC/NCIC.

After stealing roughly $200 worth of merchandise from a store at this location, a woman fled in a yellow Audi. She is described as about 5-foot-4 with a thin build, roughly 23 years old, with shoulder-length hair dyed blonde. As the time of the theft she was wearing blue jeans and a light green jacket.

A woman was cited and trespassed from Walmart after she was caught trying to shoplift.

Warrant / Weapon Violation

1624 E. Main Ave.

A male was contacted after he was observed riding a bicycle without a bike helmet. A routine record check revealed he had multiple confirmed Puyallup warrants for his arrest. Search incident to arrest revealed he was in possession of a switch/spring blade knife, which was in his front right jeans pocket. He was booked.

Call it serendipity? Pierce County Sheriff's deputies just happened to arrest a 37-year-old woman in a stolen 2012 GMC around the same time the stolen vehicle was reported to Puyallup police.

Someone turned on the victim’s water to her business, flooding the lawn.

Someone painted β€œLVLSV 13” and β€œAK” on the dumpster and wall.

Sometime overnight someone broke out the window to the business.

MVTR, Felony Eluding

31st Avenue and Ninth Street southwest

Victim called dispatch reporting that his Toyota truck was just stolen from the park and ride and that he was following it. The Toyota was located, and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit was terminated at 500 43rd Ave SE.

Pierce County continued the pursuit where it ended in a collision (rollover) at 130th and Military. 37-year-old male was taken into custody. He sustained injuries in the collision. He is a suspect in numerous motor vehicle thefts and commercial burglaries.

1100 N. Meridian - Fred Meyer

A vehicle previously stolen from Tacoma was located in the Fred Meyer parking lot, but it was missing its steering wheel and the ignition was either punched out or removed.

DUI – Drugs

4400 S. Meridian

A female driver was stopped after she was observed driving with a defective headlamp and one defective stop lamp. She admitted to smoking marijuana. She performed SFST’s and was ultimately arrested for DUI. A search warrant was later authored and granted. She was booked.

Motor Vehicle Theft & Recovery

423 Second St. NE - The Holly Hotel

The victim called to report his white 1993 Nissan was taken while it was parked outside the Holly Hotel. Vehicle entered as stolen. A few hours later, the vehicle was located by an officer on Third Avenue Northeast. It appears a few speakers were taken. The vehicle was removed from the system.
