PUYALLUP, WA - Overseas bank fraud, numerous shoplifting arrests, and several teen offenders highlight this iteration of the ever-popular Puyallup Police Department crime log, covering select incidents logged between March 22 and 26.
Warrant Arrest
1200-block of Fourth Street Northwest - Riverwalk Trail
A check of the homeless camps along Riverwalk Trail resulted in the arrest of one man who had two warrants from Puyallup and three others from the Department of Corrections and Orting Police Department.

Attempted MVT/Vehicle Prowl
401 15th Ave. SE - Multi-Care Good Samaritan Hospital lot
Sometimes between 7 and 10 a.m., an unknown number of suspects punched out the lock of a car door but were unable to start the ignition. They did end up stealing the car's stereo and speakers, though.

Daytime Residential Burglary
2000-block of 13th Street Southwest
A resident reported his home was burglarized sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. The suspect(s) stole a jar full of cash and coins, valued around $400. Police are now investigating two vehicles that the resident's Ring doorbell security camera reportedly captured driving around in the neighborhood during the same timeframe.

3500 S. Meridian - Macy's
A 16-year-old girl, who was an apparent runaway out of Pierce County, was allegedly caught shoplifting numerous articles of clothing from Macy's. She was returned to her mother, and her theft charge was forwarded to the county's juvenile prosecutor.

611 S. Meridian - Safeway
"A light-skinned black male associated with a silver Dodge Caravan stole seven containers of Tide (as well as other items)."
Theft/False Statement/Malicious Mischief/Warrant
310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart
A 17-year-old girl who was allegedly caught shoplifting from Walmart first lied about her name, telling police she was her sister in order to avoid a juvenile warrant, then threw a fit in the back of a police car after learning she was going to jail. According to police, the girl spit and caused damage in the backseat of the patrol car, earning herself a ride to Remann Hall.

3500 S. Meridian - Macy's
A man who was caught shoplifting from Macy's also allegedly had a small amount of heroin in his possession. He was taken to Pierce County jail.

700 W. Stewart Ave.
After spotting a shoeless woman standing on the railroad tracks, facing down an oncoming train, a passerby made a daring rescue by pulling her to safety. Police determined the woman's identity with help from a mobile fingerprint scanner and learned she had multiple warrants for her arrest. However, because "she could clearly not care for herself," police said she was taken to the Pierce County Recovery Response Center (RRC) instead of jail.
Fraud
2500-block of 20th Avenue Court Southeast
A fraud victim reported finding $3,200 in illegitimate charges to his Wells Fargo account. The charges were reportedly made in England.
Domestic Violence (DV) Assault
2905 Fifth Ave. NE - Riverside Park Apartments
Police responding to reports of a boyfriend pushing and kicking his girlfriend found the man throwing the woman's property from the third-floor balcony of their apartment when they arrived on scene. He was arrested.
Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance/Warrant/Search Warrant
1100 N. Meridian - Fred Meyer
A man who police found passed out in his car with multiple syringes in his lap reportedly refused to allow officers to search his vehicle following his arrest. Police impounded the car and obtained a search warrant. Newly added K9 officer Otto then used his sniffer to uncover a large quantity of drug paraphernalia inside the car.

900-block of Eighth Avenue Northwest
Sometime between 3 and 4 a.m., a backpack and laptop were stolen from a car in the area.

303 35th Ave. SE - The Home Depot
A white man was seen stealing two rolls of wire and taking off in a Honda Civic.

3500 S. Meridian - Victoria Secret
Three women reportedly stole about $400 in merchandise from Victoria Secret before escaping in a Toyota Corolla.
Collision β Vehicle vs. Motorcycle
West Pioneer/12th Street Southwest
A car versus motorcycle collision occurred when a woman who was turning left at the intersection didn't see an oncoming motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was taken to hospital in Tacoma with serious injuries; the woman was unhurt. Neither driver was impaired, police said.

1100 N. Meridian - Fred Meyer
A man who was contacted in the Fred Meyer parking lot was arrested after an officer learned the man not only had a warrant but also was in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.
Theft/Malicious Mischief/Search Warrant
1100 N. Meridian - Fred Meyer
Police located a car associated with the suspect of a bicycle theft from Bourbon Street Bar & Grill. The officer who found the car reportedly spotted the stolen bike partially covered in the car's backseat.
A warrant was issued and the car was impounded. Afterward, police returned the stolen bike to its owner and issued a summons for the suspect.

625 River Rd. - Planet Fitness
Officers stopped a suspicious vehicle and spoke with the driver, finding the man was driving with a suspended license. Additionally, the man had a warrant. He was arrested.
Malicious Mischief
900-block Ninth Street Southeast
A woman whose car tires were slashed sometime overnight told police she suspects her sister's ex-boyfriend, who was just released from prison, may be the culprit.

304 Second Street Northeast
A man forgot his cellphone in the restroom of a McDonald's restaurant. When he returned, the cellphone was gone. Police entered the phone as stolen.
Burglary
1400-block of North Meridian
Sometime between 9 and 11 a.m., someone broke into a storage unit and stole electronics and other items.
Assault
701 43rd Ave. SE
A 47-year-old woman told police an unknown man grabbed her arm in the stairwell of her apartment complex. Police could not find the alleged assailant.
MVTR
407 Valley Ave. NE - Meridian Pointe
A gray 1991 Subaru Legacy was reportedly stolen from the entrance to the Meridian Pointe Apartments sometime between 8 and 9 p.m. March 23. It was recovered by Federal Way officers on March 24.
Warrant Arrest
713 S. Hill Park Dr. - Bethany Baptist Church
A security check at Bethany Baptist Church resulted in the arrest of one man who an officer spotted sitting in an alcove on the westside of the church. The man apparently had multiple warrants, including a no-bail warrant for driving under the influence in Puyallup.
Fraud / Theft
3500 S. Meridian
A fraud victim told police he sold an XBOX to a buyer previously unknown to him via Let Go Exchange. The victim said he met the buyer at South Hill Mall to make the trade and didn't realize until afterward he'd been paid $700 in fake money.
Shoplifting / Warrant Arrest
3500 S. Meridian - Macyβs
A woman was observed taking clothing from the children's section and stuffing it into her purse before attempting to leave the store without paying. When she was stopped, police found she'd pilfered two pairs of pants, a tee-shirt, hoodie, and a jacket valued altogether at $182. She also had a warrant of out Fife. She was arrested.
DUI β Blood Warrant
15th Street Southeast & East Main Avenue
A man who was spotted swerving his car and almost wiping out several things alongside the roadway was pulled over on suspicion of driving impaired. The man reportedly refused to comply with officer's sobriety tests and was ultimately arrested.

325 East Pioneer
A woman who was found to possess methamphetamine and a meth pipe, and also have two warrants out in her name, was arrested.
Theft from Vehicle
100-block 17th Street Southwest
A locked utility trailer was burglarized overnight. Stolen were two Stihl chainsaws, a pruner, and two weed-eaters.

3207 E. Main Ave. - Mama Stortiniβs
While dining at Mama Stortini's, a man's car was burglarized in the restaurant's lower parking lot. Stolen were his daughter's backpack, which contained a hairdryer, curling iron, makeup and makeup bag, theater sandals, and a MacBook.
Shoplift
3310 S. Meridian - Target
A 13-week pregnant woman who was stopped for shoplifting was taken to hospital because she needed medical attention. She was administratively booked, police said.
