Pierce Transit said the proposed Service Reduction Plan is based on an extensive system redesign project, robust public outreach since 2009, public communication associated with Proposition 1 and Board direction.Β

In the November general elections in 2012, more than 100,000 Pierce County voters rejected Pierce Transit's Proposition 1, which would have increased local sales taxes by 0.3 percent in Pierce County.Β
