Puyallup Man Dies After Rear-Ending Semi Truck on SR 512

A 46-year-old Puyallup man is dead after he rear-ended a semi truck on SR 512 on Thursday, May 29.Β 

David Rogers was driving his black Ford F-150 pickup on SR 512, heading westbound and uphill near Milepost 9,Β when he struck the rear trailer of a semi truck at about 10:43 p.m. at a high rate of speed, according to the collision report from the Washington State Patrol. Rogers' truck left the roadway and came to a stop in a median.

WSP Trooper Guy Gill said they believe alcohol and speeding were factors in this collision.

The 39 year-old semi truck driver from Vancouver is reported to be OK. He was driving aΒ Peterbilt semi tanker truck with a trailer.Β The tanker was full ofΒ flammable liquid, but fortunately there were no ruptures, just heavy damage to both vehicles.

Investigators were on the roadway until after 2 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013. Traffic was diverted off SR 512 to S. Meridian during the investigation.Β
