UPDATE: Man Sought for Questioning in Hit and Run Comes Forward, Search for Suspect Continues

A 16-year-old girl is still in recovery after being hit by a car on West Stewart Ave. and police are searching for a man who was inside the Golden Rule Grocery Store at the time of the accident. He is not considered a suspect in this case.

Today, shortly after 4 p.m. the male subject featured in this bulletin contacted investigators at the Puyallup Police Department.Β Investigators spoke to the man about his actions at the grocery store onΒ March 16.

The investigation of hit and run incident will continue. Investigators areΒ still seeking any information related to the vehicle scene in surveillance footage from the store.

Puyallup Police want to talk to him, as he could shed light on a tragic hit and run accident that sent a local 16-year-old girl to the hospital on March 14, 2013.

According to investigators, the teenager was inside the Golden Rule Grocery in the 600 block ofΒ West Stewart Avenue NW right before she was hit by a car in a marked crosswalk on West Stewart Avenue NW, at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The suspect vehicle is a white,Β large sport utility vehicle, possibly a General Motors product.

According to investigators, the unknown male visited the grocery store on March 16 and inquired about the store’s videoΒ surveillance system- specifically about the video surveillance system’sΒ capability for the roadway in front of the store. The man specificallyΒ wanted to see video from Thursday night and if the video camera systemΒ could record vehicle license plate numbers.

The Puyallup Police Department would like to speak to him. The man is not considered a suspect inΒ this incident at this time and no probable cause exists for his arrest. Investigators believe he may have information about this case.

The man is a white male with long, light-colored hair and wasΒ driving a white Dodge Dynasty several days after the collision. This vehicle is not believed to beΒ the one involved in the hit and run.

The teenage victim underwent a successful major surgery thisΒ past weekend and remains hospitalized due to her injuries, police said. The familyΒ has asked for privacy for her while she is in the hospital due to herΒ condition and expressed their appreciation for everyone’s wellΒ wishes and help in identifying the suspect.
