Puyallup's Spring Clean-Up Week Coming Up
The city will host two community clean-up events April 27 before kicking off a week of cleaning April 29 through May 4.
PUYALLUP, WA - The city's annual Spring Clean-Up week is coming up at the end of April, and two community events will help get residents warmed up for dusting those winter cobwebs.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 27, the city will host volunteer cleaners at locations downtown and at Clark's Creek Park.
For the Downtown Cleanup event, volunteers will meet at 118 W. Main to cleanup the city's downtown area until 1 p.m. While brooms and dustpans will be provided, volunteers are advised to bring their own gardening tools and to wear appropriate clothing. The city will provide a pizza lunch.

For the city's Parks Appreciation Day event, volunteers will meet at Clark's Creek South and 5-Mile Loop Trail for three hours of beautifying Puyallup's parks. Again, volunteers will need to dress appropriately and bring their own gardening tools.
Following the weekend cleanup parties, and to encourage residents to get their spring cleaning done at the same time, the city is allowing utility customers to leave out three extra bags of garbage for curbside pick-up on their regularly scheduled garbage day between April 29 through May 4.

The extra garbage must be in either cans or bags and should not weigh more than 40 pounds, city officials said. Up to three extra containers of yard waste will also be accepted without additional charge. Tires, however, will not be accepted.
All extra garbage containers should be placed curbside before 7 a.m. on your scheduled garbage day.
Residents this week will also have the chance to toss out one major appliance at no extra cost. Refrigerators, freezers, stoves and ranges, furnaces, washers and/or dryers, hot water heaters, dishwashers, and trash compactors will be accepted, so long as the devices' doors are locked shut and they're placed curbside no later than 7 a.m. April 29 β regardless of your scheduled garbage day.
Capping off the week of cleaning, the city will offer free shredding services between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. May 4 at the Cornforth Campbell parking lot, located at the intersection of East Main and Third Street Southeast. Each household will be allowed six large shopping bags of materials that need shredding.
