A Really Drunk Driver, An 'Unlucky' Inmate, And More: Police Log

One woman steals food just so she can have a warm place to sleep while another woman sells out her theft ring. This is your PPD crime log.

PUYALLUP, WA - In this iteration of the ever-popular Puyallup Police blotter, officers find meth in a suspect's "unlucky" place; a recently released convict commits theft so she can return to a nice warm jail cell; and an extremely drunk driver causes a three-car (non-injury) crash. Entries cover reports filed between Jan. 22 and 25.

929 East Main - Puyallup Municipal Court

A 34-year-old man was arrested at the Puyallup Municipal Courthouse when officers learned he had a Pierce County felony warrant for resisting arrest and possessing dangerous drugs. When the man was strip-searched at Pierce County jail, deputies found he was hiding more than 2 grams of methamphetamine in an "unlucky" place, police said.

After staying with her sister during the holidays, a 58-year-old homeless woman refused to move on until police were called. Investigating officers learned a DV Protection Order had previously been issued, but they were unable to locate the woman during a search of the area. A summons was issued.

Fourth-Degree Assault

401 15th Ave. SE - Good Samaritan Hospital

A 22-year-old patient has reportedly assaulted staff at Good Samaritan Hospital at least three times, including the most recent incident when the patient pushed a security officer into a wall and bit her on the chest, police said. The report was forwarded to the county prosecutor's office.

Residential Burglary

Crystal Lane Loop

A general contractor called police to report the theft of a table saw and miter saw from a job site around 5 a.m. Jan. 22. The theft suspect reportedly cut a pad lock cable holding the two saw together. A neighbor's doorbell cam recorded the suspect's silhouette, police said.

DWLS/Trip Permit Violation/Warrant/UPDP

4300-block of South Meridian

Two men were arrested during a traffic stop when an officer found both men in possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Additionally, the driver reportedly had a suspended license and his passenger had multiple, extraditable felony warrants out of Oklahoma.

Theft

100-block West Pioneer

A woman was released from the Puyallup jail and promptly went into a nearby business to shoplift food. After she was caught, the woman told police that she preferred going back to jail for theft rather than sleep outside because she couldn't participate in the Freezing Nights homeless shelter program. Police granted her request.

Warrant

310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart

While speaking with folks in the parking lot an officer learned one particular gentleman had warrants from Puyallup as well as other agencies. He was summarily arrested.

Motor Vehicle Theft

Seventh Street Southeast - Country Gable Apartments

Officers logged a maroon 1997 Honda Accord that was stolen between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 21 and 8:15 a.m. Jan. 22. According to police, the vehicle's interior only has a driver's seat and some tools in the truck.

Commercial Burglary, vehicle prowls, attempted MVT

600-block East Pioneer

Three vehicles were burgled sometime between 7 a.m. Jan. 22 and 7 a.m. Jan. 23. Police say the suspect(s) entered the area where the vehicles were kept through a fence. The ignition of one of the vehicles was damaged, police said.

Commercial Burglary, vehicle prowls, Attempted MV Theft

1400-block East Pioneer

Someone entered a business and stole the cash box, a laptop, and Snap-on tools, police said. Additionally, two vehicles were burgled and the ignition to a 1992 Ford Ranger was damaged. The Ford was unable to be stolen, however, because it had a half-assembled engine, police said.

Police are reviewing surveillance video.

Commercial Burglary to Storage/ delayed reporting

1400-block of North Meridian

Sometime over the past month someone cut the lock from a storage unit and stole four Coach purses and a 60-inch TV.

DUI Arrest, 3-car collision

Second Avenue Northeast

A 30-year-old woman was driving home around 9:45 p.m. after a night of drinking wine at her cousin's apartment β€” "lots of wine," police said. While traveling east on Second Avenue Northeast she crossed the centerline and collided with another driver who was waiting to turn. After striking the first vehicle the woman then plowed into a second, parked vehicle. No one was injured in the crash, police said.

The woman later provided a BAC that registered more than four times the legal limit.

Harassment

Puyallup City Jail

One inmate threatened to kill another who reportedly filed charges against him in a previous matter. The inmates were separated and one was taken to Pierce County Jail.

Warrant/PSP

4102 S. Meridian - Best Buy

Two men, one in a wheelchair, reportedly stole a bluetooth speaker and fled the store. An officer caught up to them nearby and recovered the speaker. The officer also learned one of the men had a DUI warrant and numerous IDs that didn't belong to him. He was subsequently arrested.

4000-block of 25th Street Southeast

A home was ransacked and burgled of a sterling silverware set.

Collision/Felony DV Order Violation/Warrant/DWLS

3000-block of East Pioneer

After rolling his car, a man with DWLS warrants called his common-law spouse who also happened to be the protected person in a DV no contact court order. He already had two other convictions for violating the same order, so naturally he was arrested and taken to Pierce County Jail.

Indecent Exposure/UPDP

Ninth Street/Fifth Avenue southwest

A man was seen masturbating while he stood on the sidewalk in clear view of multiple homes. Two people who were reportedly offended by the sight took video of the act as evidence, police said. The man was later arrested and found in possession of drug paraphernalia.

MVT/Recovery

500-block West Stewart Avenue

A 1986 Chevy Blazer was stolen and later recovered by Pierce County deputies in Graham.

MVT Recovery- Idaho

Linden Lane Apartments

A police chief in Osburn, Idaho, called Puyallup to confirm his agency had recovered a truck stolen from the Linden Lane Apartments in Puyallup Dec. 19. The suspect involved was arrested.

Commercial Burglary/Malicious Mischief- delayed report

300-block of Valley Avenue Northwest

A business manager reported someone had entered the property and pried the hinges of a trailer door. Nothing was stolen, however.

Theft/UPDP/Warrant/CSU Call-Out

3500 S. Meridian - Macy’s

A woman who was caught shoplifting from Macy's was recognized as one of the suspects in a theft case involving Victoria's Secret. When questioned, the woman reportedly admitted to her involvement and identified her suspect partner. She also had multiple warrants out of Puyallup and Chehalis, and she was carrying a small amount of meth.

Vehicle Prowl

310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart

Police took a report from a burglary victim who said someone broke into their unlocked car and stole electronics and accessories. Walmart security video revealed a man performed the burglary before fleeing in a dark blue vehicle β€” either a Chevy Blazer or GMC Jimmy.

Felony Order Violation/DV Assault/Expose Minor to DV

1715 E. Main - Addison Green Apartments

A man and woman who already have a No Contact order in place were arrested after they began fighting in front of their three kids. Both told officers they were the victim of assault by the other. The No Contact order reportedly lists the man as the protected person.

The man was taken to Puyallup jail and the woman was taken to Pierce County Jail. The kids were placed with their grandmother.

Theft x 2 – Online Citizen Report

Ninth Street Southwest - South Hill Park and Ride

A theft victim reported fuel was stolen from his truck on two occasions. On Jan. 14 the victim's gas line had a hole drilled into it, and on Jan. 24 the gas line was severed completely. No suspects have been identified.
