Puyallup police responded to numerous complaints of unwanted people returning to places where they'd previously been trespassed recently.

PUYALLUP, WA - The theme for this iteration of the ever-popular Puyallup police crime log seems to be people who felt inclined to visit places where they'd been trespassed and asked not to return. This blotter covers select incidents logged between April 5 and 9.

Motor Vehicle Theft Report

2900-block of South Fruitland Drive

A woman who'd occasionally allowed a transient man to sleep overnight in her car reported the man recently decided to take the car without permission. Police logged the woman's tan and white 1998 Buick LeSabre as stolen.

Malicious Mischief 3rd, Disorderly Conduct

900 S. Meridian

Police arrested a 25-year-old man for malicious mischief and disorderly conduct after he threw a handful of rocks into the side of a parked truck in the Starbucks parking lot. The truck was reportedly occupied by a woman and two children, ages 1 and 4 years old.

Police say the man was angry and reacting to being denied a laborer job, though the victim's truck was not involved in the situation. The woman and her children were reportedly waiting her husband to return from the Starbucks.

"The suspect was not impaired but had an explosive temper and showed little to no remorse over his actions by scaring the children and causing damage," police said. "He was promptly booked into Puyallup Jail."

Assault 4th Degree

West Pioneer Avenue and South Meridian

The alleged victim was drinking inside Flannigan’s bar when he stepped outside for a smoke. The suspect approached him and asked for a cigarette but was told he could but it would cost him a β€œdollar”.

Instead of paying a dollar the suspect took the cigarette out of the victim’s mouth and a scuffle ensued. The suspect gouged the victim’s eye lid and scuffed his face during the skirmish. He then fled on foot and could not be located.

This goes to show you cigarettes are bad for your health in more ways than one.

303 35th Ave. SE - The Home Depot

After arresting a man for shoplifting, police learned he also had a warrant out for a previous shoplifting case and he was carrying a small amount of methamphetamine.

Trespass

3750 S. Meridian - Jack in the Box

A woman was arrested at the restaurant when she refused to leave. Called in as an "unwanted person," the woman had also previously been trespassed from the property.

Theft/False Statements/Trespass/Warrant

310 31st Ave. SE - Walmart

A woman was arrested for allegedly shoplifting from a Walmart where she'd previously been trespassed. Additionally, the woman lied to police about her name to try and hide a warrant from the Department of Corrections.

Theft/Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

3500 S. Meridian - Macy's

A woman who was arrested for shoplifting at Macy's was also carrying a small amount of meth.

Runaway Recovery/MIP

304 Second St. NE - McDonald's

Among a group of kids who were contacted by police in the restaurant parking lot were a 14-year-old in possession of three partially consumed bottles of vodka and a 17-year-old runaway/ward of the state. All involved youth but the runaway were returned to their guardians; the runaway was taken by Child Protective Services.

3207 E. Main Ave. - Mama Stortini’s Restaurant & Bar

The victim returned to his vehicle after leaving it overnight to find a window broken out. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

The victim discovered that her vehicle window had been broken out.

600 S. Meridian

A woman who was seen driving over a curb and through a planter was arrested for DUI. She reportedly gave BAC samples more than double the legal limit for driving impaired.

MVTR

927 Ninth St. SE - Stillwater Apartments

Sometime overnight, the victim's dark green 1996 Honda Accord was stolen.

Runaway Recovery x 2

601 N. Meridian - Grayland Park

Two runaway teens, 14 and 17, were picked up in Grayland Park when a bike officer recognized the 17-year-old as someone he returned to DSHS on his previous shift. Both teens were cleared as missing persons.

112 S. Meridian - Wicked Pie

A female had been contacted by police for being an unwanted person. She was arrested for a misdemeanor Tacoma warrant and transported and booked into Pierce County Jail.

Involuntary Commit

401 15th Ave. SE - Good Samaritan Hospital ER

A "highly intoxicated" man was involuntarily committed after threatening to assault other people in the hospital. His arrest followed a previous incident at the ER where a Federal Way officer already restrained him.

The man was deemed a threat to others.

Court Order Violation

2323 Seventh St. SE - Bradley Park Apartments

Police were called to the apartments on a domestic violence complaint. Speaking with the woman who called, officers learned her alleged assailant β€” who was in the shower β€” was the respondent in a No Contact order previously issued between the pair. The man was arrested.

Theft/Trespass/Warrant

611 S. Meridian - Safeway

A male was contacted as he shoplifted from Safeway. He had a Pierce County warrant and was also found to have been previously trespassed from Safeway. He was arrested and booked.

DOC Warrant Arrest

3510 S. Meridian - Target

A man who was "dancing around and making himself a nuisance in the vestibule of the Target" was arrested on a Department of Corrections community custody warrant. The man was reportedly blocking customers and "acting impaired."

Road Rage Disorderly Conduct / Alleged Assault 4th

120 31st Ave. SE - Big Lots parking lot

A man who was lost, looking for a coffee stand, got into a fight with another driver who said the man was tailgating him through the parking lot. Apparently, one of the men confronted the other at his rolled-down driver's side window. At this, the sitting man opened his door into the other man.

When he was hit with the door, the standing man reached through the rolled-down window and punched the sitting man in the face. The police report was forwarded to the prosecutor's office for review.

Trespassing 2nd

1100 N. Meridian - Fred Meyer

A male was observed near the Fred Meyer entrance on the outside of the building violating a previously issued Trespass Notice. He was booked.

Robbery Follow-Up/Arrest

500 10th St. SE

An officer saw a Toyota Scion being driven by a male that cut off another vehicle and had equipment violations. By the time the officer was able to turn around, he was unable to locate the vehicle. Tenacious as ever, the officer later located the vehicle pulling out of a driveway now being driven by a female. The female was stopped and cited for DWLS, and claimed no male had ever been in the vehicle.

Through investigation, the officer discovered that the vehicle had been used in a Puyallup robbery recently, and that another officer had probable cause for the male. The officer continued to search the area until he located the male walking near where the female had dropped him off. He lied about his name to conceal warrants. He was arrested and booked into Pierce County Jail.

Unlawful Possession of Drug Para/Warrant

700 E. Main Ave.

Police stopped a man on a bicycle who was not wearing a helmet. The man had a felony warrant and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested.

Hit & Run

500 31st Ave. SW

A shoplifting suspect fleeing an officer made his getaway after he reportedly drove into another car as it was turning onto the westbound SR512 on-ramp. The suspect vehicle is a white Ford Crown Victoria.

700-block of 13th Street Southwest

The victim was scammed out of $3,500 by a person that he had been communicating with on Instagram. Report to ISU.

407 Valley Ave. NE - Meridian Pointe Apartments

The victim discovered that two of his vehicle tires had been slashed.

1007 39th Ave. SE - Kaiser Permanente

The victim’s bike lock was cut, and his lime green Trek Valencia road bike was stolen.

1201 39th Ave. SW - Costco

The victim’s wallet was stolen, and the suspect(s) began using the victim’s bank cards at the Sumner Fred Meyer. Report to ISU.

False Statements/Warrant/Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Riverwalk Trail

Bike officers contacted a male on the trail. He, of course, lied about his name to conceal a felony DOC warrant. A small amount of methamphetamine and paraphernalia was located on his person. He was booked.

Littering

400 E. Pioneer

A mid-thirties male dumped a garbage can full of garbage next to the dumpster of the business. The victim was able to get a photo of the suspect.

Theft from Vehicle

701 43rd Ave. SE

Sometime overnight someone broke into the victim’s vehicle and stole several phone chargers.

Fraud (Counterfeit)

201 37th Ave. SE

Two people, a man and woman, tried to make a purchase using a fake $100 bill. When the manager called them out, both people fled.

Escape

401 15th Ave. SE

A 55-year-old female went to the hospital on a jail hold. She fled, but was located by an officer. She was booked (again).

Assault

900 Second Ave. NE - River Walk Trail

Two men who were huddling over a fire underneath the SR-512 overpass got into an altercation, with one of the men shoving the other backward, causing him to do a somersault. The assailant was arrested.

Assault – Domestic Violence

300-block of Fourth Avenue Northwest

A male was involved in an argument with his girlfriend. During the argument, the girlfriend stated that the boyfriend assaulted her after pulling her hair and scratching her. Probable cause was established, and he was later booked.

Traffic Collision

Seventh Avenue and Eighth Street northwest

Neighbors called after hearing the sounds of a vehicle crash nearby. Officers arrived and located a vehicle upside down in the middle of the intersection. Nobody was located inside the vehicle and a neighbor reported a white male running from the location. Located in the vehicle was the registered owner’s phone, which was ringing as we attempted contact. The vehicle was impounded.

Traffic Collision

1500 Shaw Rd.

A male driver was traveling northbound on Shaw RD near the 1500 block on his way to work when he swerved to avoid colliding with a deer. He ended up crashing his vehicle in the ditch, pinning him in the vehicle while water partially filled his vehicle. He was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
