These Are The Most Beautiful Cities In The PNW

GIG HARBOR, WA - Is Gig Harbor on your list of most beautiful places in the Pacific Northwest? Joining three other cities in Washington, as well as Victoria, British Columbia, and several Oregon cities, Gig Harbor was among the 10 most beautiful PNW locations listed this week by CarRentals.com, an Expedia Group travel blog site.

"How can you not fall in love with Gig Harbor?" blog author Jennifer Cuellar asked in an email. "The tranquil waters almost seem to lap at the base of Mount Rainier — it's like stepping into a postcard. And that's before you try the incredible seafood."

While Oregon cities Ashland, Bend, Cannon Beach, Coos Bay, and Newport were among the places CarRentals.com identified as "towns that need to be on your must-travel list" of Pacific Northwest destinations, Gig Harbor was joined by Bellingham, Friday Harbor, and Walla Walla to represent Washington.

Along with naming the Gig Harbor Lighthouse the "Best Place for a Selfie," Cuellar and CarRentals.com also noted Tides Tavern, Finholm View Climb, and Harborview Drive as other noteworthy places to visit and see while in town.

"A small town on Puget Sound that’s known for epic scenery, good seafood, and killer whales sounds made up," Cuellar's entry on Gig Harbor curiously begins. "But then you drive across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge to Gig Harbor and into view comes the gorgeous harbor with Mount Rainier towering in the background."

After learning his city was listed among the most beautiful, Gig Harbor Mayor Kit Kuhn expressed his feelings in an email to Patch:

“We are honored with this recognition. We are a small town community with a vibrant lifestyle and a rich heritage. There is an array of experiences to explore both indoors: free waterfront museums to IMAX Theater and amusement centers and outdoors, kayaking, boat rentals, and authentic gondola rides, and miles of hiking trails, forests and beaches.”
