Suspect Fresh From Drug Rehab Causes Hit and Run, Shoots Officers With Bear Mace at Puyallup Motel

A 34 year-old man is in jail after causing a hit and run accident in a stolen car and resisting arrest by shooting Puyallup Police officers in the face with bear mace at the Northwest Motor Inn on Wednesday, May 16, 2013.

A 34-year-old man is in police custody after he was arrested for a string of dangerous and violent acts in Puyallup on Wednesday evening, the same day he left drug rehab, according to the Puyallup Police report.

Jadeh J. Samir was driving a stolen vehicle accompanied by three womenΒ he met in rehab when he rammed two cars at 122nd St. and 111th Ave. E. in South Hill. OneΒ victim was sent to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Samir fled in the damaged, stolen car and dropped the women off at the Northwest Motor Inn before dumping the car in a credit union parking lot on 14th Ave. SE. All four checked in to the motel. Meanwhile,Β the car was reported to police as suspicious andΒ quickly confirmed as stolen.

An officer searched the area and spotted one of the female suspects on a balcony. Officers and K9 units arrived for backup and detained two of the women. Once the two were in handcuffs, the other woman emerged from the room behind police, followed by Samir, who tried to make a break for it.

Officers tried to detain him and a struggle ensued.

Samir rolled onto his stomach and grabbed a full-sized container of bear repellant spray from inside his coat. He fogged an officer with a direct shot to the face, as well asΒ other officers on top of him in a pile. An officer tazed Samir and his coat caught on fire, due to the bear repellant chemicals inside his coat.

The suspect fled through the parking lot, made it across the street back to the stolen car, got inside and locked the door. He attempted to start the engine with a pair of pliers, while reaching for a baseball bat in the backseat.

An officer broke out aΒ side window of the carΒ to apprehend him. After a prolonged struggle, the suspect had to beΒ tazed several times and blasted with pepper spray. Samir eventually gave up and was taken into police custody, with the help of officers from Sumner, Fife, more K9 backup and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.Β Meanwhile, one of theΒ handcuffed female suspects fled on foot. She was later located and arrestedΒ nearby by a sheriff’s deputy.Β

He will be charged with multiple offenses, including assault on a police officer, unlawful imprisonment, assault, resisting arrest, obstructing justice, driving with a suspended license, felony hit and run and an outstanding no bail Department of Corrections warrant.

In the struggle, a K9 dog suffered a cut to the leg from broken glass. An officer cut his arm and another injured his wrist during the struggle. The officer who was hit in the face with bear mace was down and out, due to the direct hit. Fortunately, they were checked out by medical units and injuries were minimal to all.Β
