10-Year Anniversary Of 9/11: What's Going On In Town?
Events are planned through Monday.

Sunday, September, 2011 is the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack. Here's what's happening in and around Renton in honor of those who were lost, who responded to Ground Zero and those who serve to keep America safe.

Who: City of Renton, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Renton Rotary, Neighborhood Associations, Renton Rotary City of Renton Community Services Department, Volunteer CHORE Services, King Conservation District, King County Parks, CAST For Kids Foundation, Renton Area Youth Services (RAYS), Renton Housing Authority and Renton Salvation Army Rotary Food Bank.
What: About 1,000 volunteers have signed up for 30 service projects around Renton. The day will end with a volunteer appreciation barbecue at Liberty Park.

Where: All around Renton, Liberty Park.
When: Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9a.m.- 2p.m.
Who: King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire), Veterans of Foreign War and Ladies Auxiliary Post 9430 and the King County Sheriffs’ Office.
What: A remembrance event for September 11, on the tenth anniversary of the 9/11attack. The 9/11 remembrance includes the unveiling of a special plaque at the Firefighter Memorial to honor the firefighters and police officers who responded to Ground Zero.
Where: Skyway Fire Station Firefighter Memorial, located at 12424 76 Avenue South in Skyway
When: Sunday, September 11 at 8 a.m.

Valley Medical Center Memorial Event
Who: Chaplains from VMC, and firefighters from the Kent and Renton departments.
What: Tenth anniversary memorial event of 9/11.
When: Monday, Sept. 12 from 11:30 a.m.-noon.
Where: Valley Medical Center Healing Garden.
