1. South King County mayors say flood notices incited ‘pure chaos' (seattletimes.com) — Renton residents and businesses were swept into sudden evacuation alerts after a Green River levee breach near Tukwila, with Mayor Armondo Pavone saying the warnings caused “borderline panic” and holiday business closures downtown. South King County mayors argue the flash-flood messaging was overly alarming, while the National Weather Service and King County defend acting quickly on uncertain but potentially serious flood risks.

2. Renton updates transportation goals with growth in mind (rentonreporter.com) — Renton is updating its transportation plan to handle thousands of new households and jobs by 2044, with a focus on safety and more travel options. The city’s new transportation element guides future investments, including possible two-way conversions of S. 2nd and S. Third streets, protected bike lanes, and new I-405 access ramps to support growth in key neighborhoods.

3. Renton revises B&O tax to include certain services (rentonreporter.com) — Renton businesses that provide services like IT, advertising, staffing, and custom software will see those activities reclassified as retail and subject to sales tax starting Jan. 1, 2026. Following a new state law, the Renton City Council updated the city’s B&O tax code to match the state model, and affected businesses can review the full ordinance on the city’s website.

4. Seahawks TE Eric Saubert traveled long way to become overtime hero (spokesman.com) — A Seahawks tight end working out of the team’s Renton facility just delivered one of this season’s biggest moments, catching the overtime two-point conversion that beat the Rams and boosted Seattle’s playoff hopes. Eric Saubert’s journey has taken him through eight NFL teams, but his perseverance, special-teams grit, and locker-room presence just earned him both a new contract and a career-defining highlight.
