2 Arrested, Suspected In Deadly Renton Shooting

With help from law enforcement in Nevada, Renton police said Monday that both suspects in a July shooting were in custody.

RENTON, WA — Both men suspected in a shooting that killed a 34-year-old Tacoma man last month are now in custody, according to the Renton Police Department. Police shared surveillance images of two "persons of interest" after officers found an unconscious man with a gunshot wound laying in a parking lot on the 200 block of Williams Avenue South on July 9. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a news release Monday, detectives said one suspect, identified as Kendale Jimerson, was arrested by Nevada State Patrol after a short car pursuit. The other suspect, identified as Devaughn Dorsey, was arrested last week by Renton's Directed and Special Enforcement Teams. Police officials said both men were likely to face second-degree murder charges.

"The loss of a beloved friend and/or family member is never easy, but it’s especially distressing to lose someone to such a senseless act of violence," the department wrote in a statement Monday. "We hope the arrest of those who perpetrated this horrific crime provides some semblance of comfort to those who knew and loved the victim. The Renton Police Department extends its condolences to his family; our thoughts are with you during this difficult time."
