Liberty Park became the home field of the Indians for both JV and varsity games, giving the teams a legitimate place to call home and supportive community fans who enjoyed free baseball games in downtown Renton. The Renton Baseball Booster Club continued to raise money and foster visibility for this exciting baseball program.

The varsity team finished with a 5-9 league record and they tied for fifth place in the South Puget Sound League. The JV team had their best record ever finishing with six wins--an improvement over their 1-8 record in 2017.

Varsity Coach Chris Fedor said while there was some disappointments this season he was proud of the team for all their hard work this year. Six years ago Renton's varsity team won zero games and was outscored 30-1 in some games. The program continues to make steady progress and next year promises more excitement. "Working with the kids this year has been a great blessing," said Coach Fedor.

Fedor sadly shared news of the passing of Richard Cole, longtime supporter of the team, who though in a wheelchair, was the team’s #1 fan and supporter over the years. Coaches and players will miss him.

Several awards were handed out including:

Rookie of the Year Award - Robert Willis

Gold Glove Award- Caleb Jones

Cy Young Award - Elijah Olson

Silver Slugger Award -Kenneth Harrison

Team MVP Award - Elijah Olson

Big Green Tractor Award - Jahnimor Sibaen

Richard Cole Award - Keyhlin Majors

Next Spring's home games will again be played at Liberty Park and will continue to be free for residents to attend. The boys play best when the community is cheering them on, so plan are joining them at the ball park next year. Special thanks to the dedicated Renton High baseball coaching staff: Chris Fedor, Jason Saisslin, Derrek Prellwitz, Ryan Anthony and Jason Collette.

The team appreciates the Renton School District, City of Renton and the Renton Baseball Booster Club. Contact the Renton Baseball Booster Club if you would like to help support baseball played with passion and pride https://www.facebook.com/rento...
