2022 August Primary: Candidate Filing Week Begins In King County
Candidates seeking office this year have until Friday to officially throw their hats in ahead of the August primary.
RENTON, WA — Candidate filing week began Monday in Washington, opening up the door for those seeking regional, statewide and federal offices to get their paperwork in to appear on August primary ballots.
This year, one of Washington's senators and four of its congressional representatives are up for election, along with the Secretary of State and a slew of legislative races on the state level. King County will also pick a new prosecuting attorney, following Dan Satterberg's decision to not seek reelection after nearly 15 years at the helm. As of Monday morning, two candidates had filed to run for the office: Satterberg's chief of staff Leesa Manion, and Federal Way Mayor Jim Farrell.
Voters will also cast ballots for judges in several court systems.
