This year marks are 3rd annual Zombie photoshoot here in the Seattle area. In a region where zombie events happen quite often, this event is a unique experience to say the least. While most zombie events entail a horde of the undead milling around a location yelling “BRAINS”, this event is a controlled and staged environment where normal people can be transformed by professional make-up artists into brain eating undead and then have the chance to pose as actors in preset scenes and photographed by photographers. This year the event is taking place at a wrecking yard and each scene will include both a group of zombies and a couple of “heroes” ready to dispatch the undead. Photographers who buy a ticket can photograph the scene and produce their own version of a zombie apocalypse complete with smoke machines, lighting, and a great location.
The Zombie photoshoot is the “brain” child of Brian Morris, owner of Morning Star Creative Group. Originally the shoot was just a one time event put on to help teach and train young photographers what a large photoshoot was like with lights and special effect and make up. The second year rolled around and with plenty of requests for a “2nd” year, the zombie photoshoot went from dead to very much alive! This year the event has over 100 people involved, from team leaders, make-up artists, photographers andzombies.
Brian Morris recently commented on the event. “I really wanted an event to help photographers gain knowledge about their craft and it is still true today. While we have a lot of fun and create zombies and heroes and take lots of photos, the foundation is still to allow photographers to hone their skills and perhaps learn something along the way that they didn’t know before.”

The event is looking like it will be a great success and Brian is already looking forward to next year to expand the event, making it bigger and better for year 4!
