1. Renton, WA residents expect long cleanup in Cedar River flooding aftermath (fox13seattle.com) — Heavy Cedar River flooding has pushed an enormous field of logs and debris into Lake Washington right by Renton Airport, creating a serious hazard for boaters and rowers. Volunteers and the Renton Rowing Center have started cleanup, but the Army Corps of Engineers says it must first clear other debris sites before tackling Renton’s mess, so residents should expect a long, slow recovery along the shoreline.

2. Amazon invests $800,000 to bring AI education to 500,000 students nationwide (aboutamazon.com) — Renton School District is one of 18 partners nationwide receiving support from Amazon’s $800,000 investment to expand hands-on AI education for nearly 500,000 students. Through a partnership with education nonprofit PlayLab, Renton educators and students will gain access to custom AI tools, training, and classroom projects that help them build real-world problem‑solving and tech skills for future careers.

3. The Forgotten Children's Fund brings gifts and joy for nearly 50 years (rentonreporter.com) — A regional Christmas charity that serves western Washington has directly helped at least one family in the Renton Highlands, even furnishing a home that once had no furniture. Volunteers deliver gifts, coats, food, and sometimes furniture or bill assistance, and the group is seeking more local helpers and donations to keep supporting south King County families.

4. Margaret "Peggy" Sperling Timm (March 3, 1926 (sweetwaternow.com) — A longtime mother and homemaker has died at age 99, leaving behind a large family that includes a son and daughter‑in‑law living in Renton. 5. Seahawks LB Derick Hall's one-game suspension upheld after appeal (espn.com) — From the Seahawks’ headquarters in Renton, the NFL has upheld linebacker Derick Hall’s one-game suspension without pay for stepping on a Rams player during last week’s win.
