House Bill 1443 Referred to The House Education Committee for First Reading

Maxwell’s House Bill 1443, which was recently referred to the House Education Committee, includes:

- Adoption of Common Core Standards to increase opportunities for success among students who move from state to state and improve student assessments.
-Ensures technical assistance to districts and schools to reduce dropout rates. 
-Incorporates the use of kindergarten readiness assessment in low-performing elementary schools. 
-Approves the use of Learning Assistance Programs (LAP) funds to assist students in science. 
-Adopts consistent procedures for school districts to identify and guide gifted students. 
-Identifies recruitment methods diverse teach for a diverse teaching community within the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
