Renton Council Member Rich Zwicker Elected to AWC Board of Directors

RENTON, WA – Renton City Council member Rich Zwicker was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) to represent District 13, which includes Renton.  Zwicker has served on Renton City Council since 2008, is currently the vice-chair of Suburban Cities Association Caucus of King County Regional Water Quality Committee, and is the City of Renton’s representative on WRIA 8. Zwicker is a member of the Renton Technical College Foundation and the founding director of the Next Curve, a group cultivating the next generation of philanthropy in Renton.

The AWC Board provides specific guidance regarding policies, resolutions and legislative proposals on behalf of AWC’s member cities and towns. The Board also reviews and adopts the AWC’s annual operating budget, establishes membership fees, and provides policy direction on key issues.  Members are elected to the AWC Board by voting delegates from each city and town.

“It is an honor serve as a Board member of AWC and to have the opportunity to represent the interests of the cities in my district,” said Councilmember Rich Zwicker. “As we continue to face resource challenges I will continue to find ways to build strong partnerships and promote policies that prioritize our services, reduce costs and help us achieve our goals.”
