Election Results To Be Certified On Nov. 29
Ed Prince leads with 663 votes in the race for Renton City Council position 5.

Currently, Prince is leading with 7,957 votes, or 51.97 percent of the vote. His opponent, Robin Jones has 7,294 votes and 47.64 percent.
Despite the difference, Jones says the race is not over and he has not yet conceded to Prince.
“I will accept it when they certify the results,” he said. “Historically, the probability is not in my favor.”

Jones isn’t sure if he’ll run for election again, but maintains that he will remain active in the community.
Prince is certain the race has run its course.

“We’re done. We’ve won,” he said. “It’s just about mathematically impossible” for Jones to pull into the lead. “The election is in the rear-view mirror.”
Prince hasn’t had discussions with council yet, but he has been in contact with department heads, he said.
The most current results will be posted at 4:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 17. The Canvassing Board will certify the 2011 General Election results on Nov. 29, which also happens to be Prince’s birthday. Final results will be posted on Nov. 30 at noon.
Recount Bound? Here are the conditions:
Mandatory machine recounts are triggered if the difference between the two candidates is fewer than 2,000 votes and the difference between the two candidates is less than half a percent, said King County Elections spokeswoman Kim van Ekstrom.
A mandatory hand recount is triggered when the difference between the two candidates is fewer than 150 votes and the difference between them is less than a quarter of a percent, she said.
Van Ekstrom said that the county had about 40,000 ballots left to count as of Monday, Nov. 15
However, any decision on recounts will be made after the certification of the election, which is Nov. 29, she said.
