Four Renton Fire & Emergency Service Personnel Promoted

Fire Chief Mark Peterson announced the promotions at City Council on Monday.

Chief Mark Peterson announced the promotion of four Renton Fire and Emergency Services Employees at City Council Monday night following a reception on the seventh floor of City Hall.

“These members have worked hard to get where they are today,” he said.

Erik Hammes started with the department in Feb. 1998 and was promoted from firefighter to Lieutenant on June 1. The promotion was a result of a May retirement, Peterson said. Hammes’ daughter, Anna, presented her father with his new badge.

Will Aho joined the department in Jan. 2002 and was promoted from firefighter to Lieutenant on Nov. 16. The promotion came Aho returned to work after after an injury earlier this year, said Peterson. Aho’s wife Kim presented her husband with his new badge.

Doug McDonald started with the department in Jan. 1992 as part of the District 25 contract and was recently promoted from Lieutenant to Captain. McDonald is also President of IAFF Local Chapter 864. His daughter, Madison, pinned her father with his new badge.

Greg Hartmann was hired on with the department on the same day as Chief Peterson in July 1980, and was recently promoted from Captain to Battalion Chief at Station 13 on C shift. Hartmann’s wife, Peggy, presented her husband with his new badge.
