Hazen High School In Renton Closed Monday
A parent and their student are awaiting test results for COVID-19.
RENTON, WA — Hazen High School in Renton is closed Monday because a parent and their student are waiting for results after being tested for COVID-19, the new strain of coronavirus linked to China, the Renton School District said.
The district said they learned from the parent on Sunday that they were experiencing flu-like symptoms along with the student. Both are self-quarantined at home while they wait for the test results.
Officials said the parent works in the health care industry and became sick last Sunday while the student became sick on Wednesday and did not attend school on Thursday or Friday.
