The public can attend a ceremony this week at Mt. Olivet Cemetery for over 300 King County residents whose remains were never claimed.
RENTON, WA — The King County Medical Examiner this week will hold a public ceremony for 302 people who died in recent years and whose remains were never claimed by a family member or loved one.
This year's ceremony will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Renton. Clergy members from several denominations will speak for the dead during the ceremony. The county classifies the dead as indigent, which means they were homeless or in extreme poverty when they died.
The 2019 indigent burial ceremony happens Wednesday at 1 p.m., at 100 Blaine Avenue Northeast. A list of all 302 names included in the ceremony is available on the King County Medical Examiner's website.
