KCLS To Host Public Meeting, Open House On New Library Design

Renton citizens invited to comment, add input for new downtown library design

The King County Library System (KCLS) today announced a public meeting and open house to gather input about the design of the new on Tuesday, September 13 from 6-8 p.m. in the Renton Pavilion Event Center.

In March the to build two new libraries, and in June the to construct two new libraries, one of which would be located in the former Big 5 site located on South 3rd Street. 

Miller Hull Partnership, the architectural team chosen for the project, are prepared to make a short presentation and KCLS representatives and City officials will be on hand to answer questions and respond to comments.

Attendees are encouraged to park in the City Center Garage at 655 South 2nd Street; however, remember that only the first two hours of parking are free.

The City of Renton is also working to coordinate the dates and times for the new , said Diane Wagner, City facilities secretary.

Anyone who submitted an application to serve on the committee was accepted and will be contacted, she said, as long as they fit the criteria of the application, such as living within the city limits.

The City will also host public forms to gather community input on how the should be re-purposed, she said. The dates for those meetings have not yet been scheduled.
