King County and Renton Partner for Improved Sidewalks, Walkability in West Hill Neighborhood
Key elements include the addition of sidewalks, bicycle safety improvements and drainage along the east side of Renton Avenue South.

King County and the City of Renton are working together to improve pedestrian and bicyclist access and safety along Renton Avenue South in the West Hill area.Â
The county's Road Services Division and Renton are collaborating on the project, which will affect Renton Avenue South between 75th Avenue South and 76th Avenue South. Key elements include the addition of sidewalks, bicycle safety improvements and drainage along the east side of the roadway, and may also include bus stop improvements and a gateway at the intersection of Renton Avenue South and 76th Avenue South.Â
The project is designed to help connect residents with local businesses, Metro Transit service, and key neighborhood and regional service. Although the it is expected to improve non-motorized transportation, the number of parking spaces may be reduced in the process. The county will work with businesses to find a happy medium.
