Letter To The Editor: Suggestions Wanted For Bike-Friendly Infrastructure

Although recently retired, I was a bicycle commuter for many years through downtown Renton.

As a crossroads at the south end of Lake Washington, many bicycle commuters and leisure riders converge through Renton. There is an excellent Renton Trails and Bikeways Guide Map available and a long term Renton Trails and Bicycle Master Plan.

The reality is there are very few dedicated lanes for safely cycling through downtown. It is particularly dangerous heading west toward the Interurban Trail in Tukwila. As a new member of the City Center Community Plan Advisory Board, I hope to help expedite a safer more bike friendly infrastructure. I am open to comments and suggestions.
