Mayor Declares September "Ready In Renton" Month

Are you ready for a natural disaster? Renton offers a variety of classes and resources to help families get ready for the unexpected

Earlier this month, Mayor Denis Law declared September 2011 as "Ready in Renton Month." The declaration occurred at an August City Council meeting to create awareness around the importance of emergency preparedness and to get Renton Citizens involved in the month-long declaration.

There is no shortage of emergency preparation opportunities in Renton, including the Renton Emergency Preparedness Academy (REPA) and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

Emergency Management Director Deborah Needham and Deputy Chief Bill Flores accepted the proclamation. Although Renton has not experienced a major disaster in a long time, the City and its residents train in order to be prepared, Needham said, thanking the Council for its support of Renton's emergency management program.
