New Chicken Shop Opens In Renton This Weekend
Shaquille O'Neal's Big Chicken franchise will open in Renton on Saturday, joining just a handful of other locations around the country.

RENTON, WA — A chicken sandwich franchise founded by Shaquille O'Neal will open its second Washington location Saturday in Renton. The new brick-and-mortar location joins the first King County location, which opened inside Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena earlier this year.
The menu is inspired by the food Shaq grew up with, and popular options include the "Shaq Attack," blanketed with pepper jack cheese and topped with a jalapeño slaw. Dessert offerings include a giant chocolate chip cookie that the restaurant bills as the size of a regulation basketball.
The Renton outpost opens Saturday inside The Landing, joining a growing stable of Big Chicken restaurants across the nation. The newest franchise is owned and operated by David and Lorri Jones, who previously founded the Blazing Onion Burger Company.

"I have been looking forward to this day since the moment I signed the franchise agreement," Jones said. "I fell in love with the concept the second I tried it and knew that folks in the greater Seattle area would immediately crave the big, bold flavors, just as we had."
Readers can learn more about Big Chicken and take a peek at the menu on the restaurant's website. The next Big Chicken is scheduled to open next year in Mukilteo.
