Officer Deliberately Shot At While In Patrol Car: Renton PD
"Review of surveillance video from the area revealed that the shooter targeted the officer in this attack," police said in a news release.
RENTON, WA — Renton police said one of their own was deliberately shot at while in her patrol car Tuesday evening.
According to the department, just before 5 p.m., the officer was driving a marked patrol car on Talbot Road South while approaching South Grady Way.
Police said as she waited in the left turn lane to turn east on South Grady way, the officer heard at least ten gunshots from the Chevron parking lot. A red Kia fled the scene, witnesses said.

After a short pursuit, officers said they were able to stop the Kia and arrest the suspects. The suspected shooter, a 24-year-old Kirkland man, was arrested and booked for first degree assault and drive by shooting.
The car’s driver, a 23-year-old Seattle man, was also booked for drive by shooting and attempting to elude pursuing police vehicle.

"Fortunately, no one was injured in the shooting, although at least one vehicle was struck by the gunfire," police said in a news release. "Review of surveillance video from the area revealed that the shooter targeted the officer in this attack."
Police said they still need to talk with the drivers of two cars who were stopped for a red light directly in front of the officer’s car — a black SUV and a white sedan.
Police are also asking that people call 425-430-7500 if they were in either gas station parking lot at the time of this incident and have not been interviewed, or if they have any further information about the shooting.
The Renton police case number for this incident is 21-8883, and Detective Tracie Jarratt is the primary investigator.
