Pop-Up Blood Drives in Renton this Month

The need for blood never stops because blood components are perishable. Platelets have a shelf life of only five days; red cells can only be stored for up to 42 days.

To help meet this critical need, Bloodworks Northwest and Valley Medical Center will host pop-up donor centers in Renton in January. Your one-hour donation supports local hospitals and patients. Pop-Up Donor Centers are following social distancing guidelines.

The first two events, Jan. 5 & 6, at Renton Community Center, have been filled.

There are five more events scheduled. Make an appointment online for either location: Hazen High School, Jan. 20-22, 1101 Hoquiam Ave. NE or Lindbergh High School, Jan. 28-29, 16426 128th Ave. SE.

COVID Updates

Vaccine questions: Public Health-Seattle & King County has developed a frequently asked questions COVID-19 vaccine page. Answers cover vaccine development and safety, how it works and availability.

As we move into the vaccine phase of COVID-19, we must keep up our guard to prevent spreading the virus. Your actions do make a difference.

  • Shrink your social circle and avoid indoor gatherings.
  • Reduce close contact with those outside your immediate household. Staying at home is still the safest.
  • If you do go out, keep it quick, keep your distance and wear a face covering. Limit the number of people outside your household that you gather with every week.
  • If you feel symptoms of COVID-19, get tested.

Eviction moratorium: The state's moratorium on evictions has been extended to March 31, 2021. Details can be found on the governor’s website.

Extension of statewide restrictions: An extension of the "Stay Safe–Stay Healthy" proclamation, along with the statewide restrictions imposed, will now expire on Jan. 11, 2021. No changes were made in the proclamation aside from the expiration date.

$54 million to extend benefits: The state is providing funding for residents who will lose federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefits because the federal coronavirus relief package was delayed. This one-time pandemic relief payment will aid 94,555 Washingtonians who have been claiming PUA and will be immediately impacted by the benefits lapse.
